Applying for interim assistance
What is an Interim Award?
The Tribunal may make an Interim Award in appropriate circumstances. This is a request for payments for counselling, medical or other expenses in advance of the final determination of the application.
How to Apply for an Interim Award
An application for an Interim Award must be made in writing to the Tribunal, setting out the reasons and the urgency for the interim request.
This will be referred to a Tribunal Member or Registrar (if within the prescribed limit of $1000) for consideration on the material provided.
The applicant will be notified of the result and sent an award notice or letter confirming the decision of the Tribunal.
There are special procedures for an Interim Counselling Award. Refer to the Counselling page on this website - see menu at left.
If you require further information or assistance on what may be required to support your claim, please contact the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal directly.
